List of Documents Needed to Open a Demat and trading account:

Aadhar Card – Mobile no should be linked to Aadhar Card
PAN Card
Cancelled Cheque or Bank Statement 
Passport Size colour Photo
Your Signature on a piece of paper.
Income Proof: It’s not mandatory.

Scan all these documents before processing to open the Demat Account.

You can open account Online and Offline method.

To open a demand account through the online method you need to follow these steps. 

1) First, you need to open Google Chrome browser in mobile.

2) Need to visit Zerodha website i.e.

3) Next, you need to enter your mobile number to sign up.

4) After entering your mobile number you receive an OTP to verify your mobile number.

5) Then enter your full name and email id.

6) To your email id, you receive OTP to verify your email id. 

7) To your email, you will receive all future correspondence from Zerodha.

8) Then you need to enter your Permanent Account Number (PAN) Details.

9) Need to enter Date of Birth details.

10) You need to make a payment for account opening for Equity Rs 200.

11)  Account opening charges for Commodity is Rs100.

12) You can make payment through Net Banking, Card Payment or UPI.

13) After making the payment it will ask you to connect Aadhar Details through Digilocker.

14) Then need to click on Connect to Digilocker.

15) This will open a new page to sign up with Digilocker account by using your mobile no.

16) If you already have an account with Digiloker you can Sign indirectly.

17) After entering Digilocker account select Aadhar Card, If you created a new account verify your Aadha Number using OTP received on your mobile.

18) Then you need to click on Link Your Digilocker With Zerodha.

19) After Aadhar verification is completed new screen will appear let's finish the application.

20) You need to fill your Bank Details and other details
Bank Account Number
Bank Name
Bank IFSC Code
Marital Status.  

21 )Then click and continue.

22) Next is IPV Verification over your mobile phone.

23) It is compulsory for each investor to go through the in-person verification process before opening a Demat & trading account.

24) In-person-verification is a process where a depository participant in personal verifies documents and other details as per the law by SEBI.

25)  In this process you need to write down OTP on a piece of paper then need to hold with the code in front of your mobile camera.

26)  You need to click on Start IPV then click on Take Video and at last Save Video.

27)  Next, you need to digitally sign the application with Aadhar using mobile OTP.

28)  Upload the scanned copies of  PAN Card, Cancelled Cheque, BankStatement, Yoursignature.

29)   Next time when your sign in click on “design Equity” Button and proceed to next step.

30)   Enter the security code received on your mobile number or registered email id.

31)   Next window enter your Aadhar number and tick the checkbox and click on Request OTP.

32)   Enter your OTP received on your mobile. With this design process for Equity is complete.

33)   You will receive a welcome mail from Zerodha after verifying all your details.

34)   Once your account is opened you can download Zerodha Kite app in your mobile and starts Trading.
